RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Schedule consists of three 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend requirement: either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Patient ratio typically 1:5 with staffing goal of 1:4
• EPIC charting experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• 1 year of experience required, travel experience preferred
• Floating required within skillset to other PCU or medical-surgical units
• Care for stroke, neurology, and general medicine patients
• Manage cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, Ketamine (no titration)
• Provide cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management
• Maintain isolation precautions and telemetry settings
• Work with remote telemetry monitoring system
• 32 hours of orientation provided
• Two pre-approved time off requests allowed

This large acute care facility is a Level I Trauma Center with over 700 licensed beds and Magnet designation. It serves as a teaching hospital and offers advanced specialty care including bariatric, trauma, and surgical services. The 12 West unit is a telemetry PCU specializing in stroke and neurology patients as part of a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams.
