Opportunity:

SMH General X - SMH : L1RAD : X-Ray Tech

Job Details:

• Work weekend schedule: Friday 8:00 AM to midnight, Saturday 10:30 AM to midnight, and Sunday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
• On-call and holiday coverage required
• Verify patient identity and review physician orders before beginning x-ray procedures
• Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs per physician orders
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer questions
• Position patients accordingly, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility
• Handle all radiologic equipment safely while keeping radiation dose to patients as low as possible
• Observe patient status and interpret age-specific needs
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation
• Utilize electronic patient information systems and practice dual patient identifier procedures
• Maintain accurate patient record keeping and ensure proper image identification
• Completion of formal training in approved School of Radiologic Technology required
• ARRT certification required
• New York State license required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• 2 years of X-ray technologist experience required
• Level 1 trauma center experience required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only) required
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move patients
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills required
