RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work in Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) with 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds
• Patient ratio of 1:5 patients per RN
• Care for primary patient population including CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (open heart surgery, CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR, thoracic lung surgery, lobectomy, thoracotomy, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomies)
• Also care for overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block
• Perform typical procedures including epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV gluccommander, cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)
• Work with equipment including Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, various lifts
• Use Cerner EMR system
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Must have stepdown and telemetry experience
• Preferred experience with CV surgery and vascular surgery population within past year, CVICU experience
• Float to any stepdown units (1:5 ratios), medical surgical units (1:6-7 ratios), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
• No call responsibilities
• Minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) per 6-week schedule period required
• Dress code: All navy, white tops/navy bottoms, or all white scrubs
• Must be team player, enjoy fast-paced environment, and be flexible
