RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• Work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week with every other weekend requirement
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• Work with specialized equipment including BiPAPs, high flow oxygen, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, and wound vacs
• Documentation using Meditech system
• May float between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors
• Perform hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Must have critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, and experience with cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips
• Peripheral IV skills required and peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• Experience needed with stroke care, post cardiac catheterization care, tube feedings, and NG/Dobhoff tubes
• Procedures performed include peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, Dobhoff/NG tube insertions, and central line dressing changes
• Unit utilizes self-scheduling with 4-week schedule blocks
• Black scrubs required
• Unit features excellent teamwork and family-like culture with strong tech support

Facility:

This healthcare facility features a Progressive Care Unit with 34 beds on one floor and 25 beds on another, providing intermediate-level care between intensive care and general medical units. The facility emphasizes patient experience with communication boards and structured rounding protocols. The unit is well-staffed with technology support and maintains a collaborative care environment with strong nursing and technical staff support for comprehensive patient care.
