Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with 36 guaranteed hours per week (48-hour contracts available upon request)
• Every third weekend and every other holiday requirement
• No local candidates within 40-mile radius accepted
• 13-week contract length with bi-weekly orientation starting 11/17
• Float requirement: First to float within skillset to other campus locations (Deaconess Newburgh - 8 miles, Deaconess Gateway - 11 miles) with 2-hour notice
• Mid-shift float within same campus, cross-campus mid-shift float unlikely but possible
• No on-call or call back requirements
• Navy blue scrubs required with no competing health systems or agency logos
• 2 years RN experience required including one solid year of stepdown/PCU experience and 1 travel assignment
• Recent EPIC charting experience required with mandatory checkoff class
• Required certifications: Current active compact license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must pass tele interpretation tests
• Care for stepdown/PCU patient population including drips (insulin, heparin, cardiac), sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia
• Handle surgical patients including urology, abdominal, and orthopedic cases
• Required skills: Tele interpretation, initiate/titrate insulin, heparin, cardiac drips
• Preferred skills: PIV insertion, stable home vents, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stable drips, blood product administration, continuous BiPap
• Patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 on SDU (10 beds); Days 1:5-6, Nights 1:6 on Tele (15 beds)
• May require precepting of students and new hires as this is a teaching hospital
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
