Opportunity:

RN - PCU Float Pool

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Float to all PCU/Telemetry units within the hospital as needed
• Float between PCU, Overflow, Medical, and Surgical floors to meet hospital needs
• May work a different unit every shift based on staffing requirements
• Patient ratios: PCU 1:4 (may go to 1:5), Medical/Surgical 1:5 (may go to 1:6 rarely)
• Every other weekend requirement with minimum of 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Holiday requirement: 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• Overtime opportunities available
• 3 shifts of orientation on 3 different units plus general facility orientation
• Navy scrubs required
• Required certifications: BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS
• 1-2 years experience required with proficiency in neuro assessments and basic cardiac drips
• Must have experience with cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin drips
• EPIC experience required
• Prior travel experience required
• Must be able to read/interpret EKG strips and pass ECG exam
• Required to titrate drips and respond to high flow oxygen situations
• Care for patients with stroke, chest pain, arrhythmias, abdominal pain, post-surgical conditions, altered mental status, dehydration, AKI, CHF, GI hemorrhage, sepsis, and respiratory failure
• Work with equipment including CPAP and high flow oxygen systems
• Perform EKGs and communicate changes to physicians with offsite monitoring support

This hospital operates a comprehensive 104-bed progressive care and medical-surgical facility with specialized units including a 52-bed Neuro PCU and 52-bed Medical Surgical unit. The facility maintains advanced cardiac and neurological monitoring capabilities with offsite monitoring support and utilizes EPIC electronic health record systems. The hospital provides comprehensive care for complex medical conditions including stroke, cardiac conditions, and post-surgical patients, with support staff including patient care technicians and unit secretaries on most floors.
