Shift Details
- Mid shift: 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Call requirement: 3-5 weeknight call shifts in a 6-week schedule (8:30 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Weekend call: 2-4 single weekend call shifts in a 6-week schedule (not full weekends)
Job Summary
- Accountable for care of a group of patients in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Focus on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care
- Promote customer satisfaction and quality outcomes
- Assist in maintaining a financially stable unit
- Apply evidence-based practice and participate in Practice Governance framework
- Supervise licensed and non-licensed staff
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Provide patient and family education and support
- Mentor and precept staff members
- Participate in quality, safety, and service improvement initiatives
- Comply with regulatory standards
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments; make sound independent decisions
- Initiate, prioritize, and implement care plans; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions
- Facilitate and evaluate education for patients and families during stay and at discharge
- Delegate tasks and encourage teamwork
- Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute care nursing experience
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
