Location

• Parkersburg, West Virginia

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift

• Nights, 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• Cardiac telemetry unit
• 43 beds
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with flexibility up to 1:6

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to read cardiac strips
• Unexpired driver’s license copy must be submitted with the application

Clinical Experience / Skills

• Comfortable caring for post-cardiac cath, CHF, COPD, arrhythmia, post-pacemaker, and CABG-consult patients
• Able to titrate heparin drips
• Able to perform EKGs if needed

Scheduling / Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• May be asked to work holidays if needed
• Call or standby may occur rarely
• Self-scheduling is allowed, and block scheduling may be accommodated if unit needs are met

Floating

• May float within the hospital, including ICU and stepdown, within skill set

Orientation

• 1 day of computer training
• 1 day of floor shadowing with a preceptor
• Independent on the third day
