• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Level 1 trauma experience
• Previous travel experience
• Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit
• Heparin drip experience

Unit Details

• 54-bed neuro medical-surgical acute unit
• Typical patient population includes stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, neuroscience, and some medical overflow
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4-5 on days, 1:5-6 on nights
• Charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7
• Telemetry is monitored house-wide; nurses do not need to read strips
• High-flow support is used rarely for stable COVID patients

Responsibilities

• Titrate drips as needed
• Float in rotation with the rest of the staff
• Provide care within competency if floated outside the general unit

Additional Notes

• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen required
• Tattoos must be covered while on duty
• Piercings are limited to ears only
• 2-day unit orientation is provided
