Registered Nurse — NICU

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week

Setting

• Level 3 NICU

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• NRP certification
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Experience

• Level 3/4 ICU experience preferred
• Micro preemie care preferred

Schedule

• Self-scheduling is available
• Block scheduling is allowed
• Every other weekend required for day shift; night weekend coverage depends on facility needs
• Holidays required as needed
• No current call requirement

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1–3 in NICU; 1:3–4 in NIC
• Charge RN and house supervisor are on site 24/7
• PCTs are used on the unit
• Neonatologist, APNs, and resident/fellow coverage are available 24/7
• Common equipment includes conventional vents, oscillator ventilator, JET ventilator, CPAP, nasal IMV, heated high flow, and tracheostomy support
• All patients are monitored, but the unit does not use tele

Floating

• Travelers are first to float
• May float to PICU, PIC, pediatrics, nursery, sitter, BHM, and adult areas

Orientation

• 1–2 days of unit-specific orientation

Other Notes

• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• No specific scrub color is required
• Fake nails, nail polish, jewelry, and watches are not allowed
