Required Qualifications

• Active BLS and NIHSS
• 2 years of Med Surg, PCU, or ICU experience
• Recent experience in the setting within the last year
• Drip experience

Preferred Experience

• Trach and vent experience
• Home trach/vent experience

Unit Details

• 28 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6 depending on acuity
• Common patient population includes neuro and trauma/ortho cases
• RNs titrate drips
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are available
• Central monitoring is located in a different area

Schedule

• Self-scheduling with manager balancing
• Schedule opens 6 weeks in advance
• Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Typically 2 of 3 winter holidays, otherwise every other holiday
• No call requirement

Floating

• Floating required to sister Med Surg units and other general care specialties

Orientation

• 1 shift of general orientation
• 1 shift with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Open to first-time travelers
• Must clock in and out at the facility
• Any solid color scrubs are allowed
• Candidates living within 80 miles are considered local rate
• Prior employment with this facility must have ended at least 6 months before submission
