Radiation Therapist

Location

• Paducah, Kentucky

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts
• Scheduled hours: 0800-1630, with occasional overtime to meet treatment needs

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiation Therapist license in Kentucky
• Radiation Therapist (1 year of experience)
• Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
• ARRT (RT)
• BLS
• Associate's degree in Radiation Therapy

Required Skills

• Basic computer skills
• Ability to operate standard office equipment
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision
• Clinical knowledge of radiotherapy treatment units and treatment procedures, simulation, field blocking techniques, immobilization device fabrication, and basic patient care skills
• Ability to be on call, including weekends and holidays, and work above-standard hours as needed

Preferred Experience

• Radiation oncology experience
• Experience using Aria and Varian linear accelerators

Key Responsibilities

• Administer ionizing radiation
• Document treatment data accurately in charts
• Assess patient needs and determine when physician review is necessary
• Check charts for mathematical errors
• Assist with simulations and fabrication of immobilization devices
• Train and support students in radiation therapy and radiologic technology programs
• Communicate with patients, families, staff, management, and physicians
• Monitor student progress and communicate updates to the program director
• Maintain a secure area at the end of the shift
