- 12-hour night shifts
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- CVICU (2 years of experience)
- CVICU experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Ability to interpret cardiac strips
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
- CCRN
Unit Details
- 20-bed unit with all private, monitored rooms
- Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
- Charge nurses are present 24/7 and may take assignments
- House supervisor is present 24/7
- PCTs are available
- Respiratory therapists are available 24/7
- Monitor techs are available
Common Patient Population
- Post open-heart surgical patients
- Cardiovascular ICU patients with conditions such as STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, severe heart failure, and cardiac-related ICU needs
- Ventilated patients
- Overflow patients from other ICUs, including COVID patients
- Future patient types include post-VAD placement and post-heart transplant
