ICU RN

Overview

• ICU RN in Iron Mountain, Michigan
• 13-week contract
• Day/Night Rotate, 12-hour shifts
• 4x12 hour shifts, D/N rotating

Required Qualifications

• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience in an ICU setting
• Must be comfortable floating to MS-Tele
• Must be able to float to Med/Surg
• Must be comfortable troubleshooting and assisting with vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow
• RN must be able to titrate drips

Preferred

• Critical Access experience
• Trauma Level 3 or 4 experience
• Experience in a more rural setting

Unit Details

• Department: ICU RN
• 5-bed ICU with 2 IMC in hallway
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 2:1 for ICU; 3:1 IMC depending on acuity
• Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, septic shock, detox, DKA, A-fib, and arrhythmias requiring pacing
• No pulmonology, dialysis, or cardiac surgery
• Limited resources onsite
• No nurse aides on the unit
• Charge nurse takes a full assignment
• Hospitalist or intensivist in house until 6 pm daily
• Tele/Monitor Techs available from 0700-1900; RN verifies strips and signs off on MS unit strips, with training if needed

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Weekend rotation every other weekend, Friday through Sunday
• 2 of 3 holidays
• Opportunity to be placed on call/standby
• Self-scheduling is attempted when possible, but blocking cannot be guaranteed
• May be asked to take Med/Surg ratios of 1:3-6 when floating

Orientation

• Day 1: 8 hours computer education and 4 hours shadowing
• Day 2: 12-hour orientation shift
• Day 3: independent

Additional Notes

• Local candidates are within 80 miles of the facility
• Must note if the clinician has ever worked for Marshfield; if previously employed, there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
