Med Surg/IMC/Tele RN - 6N

Overview

• Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
• Facility-based unit: IMC RN - 6N
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
• Schedule: 1900 to 0730
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Every other holiday

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• NIHSS
• 1 year of Tele, IMC/Stepdown RN experience
• Majority of cardiac experience
• Drip experience
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Good communication
• Good teamwork
• Good work ethic

Preferred

• Previous travel experience

Unit Details

• 28 beds
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 on days/pms and 1:5-7 on nights, with 7 patients acceptable
• Up to 75% of patients can be cardiac
• Common patient types include cardiology pre/post caths, pre CABG, chest pain, NSTEMIs, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, diabetes, dialysis, altered mental status, nephrology, hematology, wounds, and overflow strokes
• Common drips include insulin, heparin, nitro, diltiazem, and lasix
• Tele techs provide 24/7 monitoring
• Charge RN has patients but generally not a full assignment
• Nurse aide support is available
• Respiratory support includes Continuous Cpap, Bipap, High flow, vapotherm, nebs, chest PT, and no vents

Floating

• May float to other Med/Surg floors
• May also float outside the Med/Surg cluster, especially if there is a patient observer 1:1 need
• Staff with other specialty experience may float there

Orientation

• 1 12-hour day off unit and 1 12-hour shift on unit orientation

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within 80 miles are subject to a reduced client rate
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• If the clinician has ever worked for Marshfield, there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission
