Cardio Thoracic Unit RN
Overview
- 13-week contract
- Location: Peoria, Illinois
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours
- Schedule: 1900-0730
- Unit: Cardio Thoracic | RN
- Bed count: 70
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- EKG interpretation
- Medication titration
- All basic nursing skills
- Must be able to read and interpret tele strips
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
Unit Details
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6
- Common patient types include MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery, chest tubes, esophagectomy, and gen med overflow
- RN titrates drips, mainly Cardizem and heparin
- Charge nurse is present 24/7 and rarely takes patients
- House supervisor is present 24/7
- PCT support is available
- Respiratory support includes Cpap, Bipap, and heated high flow in special circumstances with COVID patients
- Tele monitor techs are available
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday rotation is required
- Floating: other general medical units
- Scrub color: any color except children/cartoon-type prints
- Orientation is typically 1 shift or part of one
Submission Notes
- Requested time off must be provided
- Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
- Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
