PACU RN
Overview
- Location: Ketchum, Idaho
- Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit / Assignment Details
- Unit: Perioperative Care - Flr 2
- Department: PACU
- 14 beds total: 3 PACU bays and 11 interchangeable bays for pre-op, same day discharge, and Endo
- Travelers may work in pre-op, PACU (Phase 1 and Phase 2), pre-Endo, and post-Endo areas
- Phase 1 and Phase 2: Yes
- Common cases include ortho, sports med, ortho trauma, general, gyn, c-sections, endoscopy, occasional plastics and neuro/spinal, and pediatric ortho trauma and dental cases
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Idaho
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (2 years of experience)
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
- Experience with Phase 1 PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
- General surgical recovery experience
Schedule / Call
- 8- or 10-hour shifts are used; 12-hour shifts are very rare
- Start times are from 6–8 am
- Night call is scheduled from 6 pm–7 am
- Weekend call runs from Friday 6 pm to Monday 7 am
- Travelers may be assigned holiday call
- 5–6 call shifts per month
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- Staff must remain within 30 minutes of the hospital when on call
Additional Notes
- No self-scheduling
- 2 CNAs are scheduled Monday through Friday
- Travelers are expected to learn room cleaning/turnover and help with daily chores
- Scrubs are provided
- Unit orientation includes a preceptor and 3–5 shifts of orientation

Tucked in the Rocky Mountains of south-central Idaho in the shadow of Sun Valley resort, Ketchum sprang forth in the late 1800s as a silver mining town. It still exudes Old West charms with cabin-style shops and historic buildings, but today it's mostly known as a place where residents are obsessed with the outdoors. With a stunning backdrop of towering peaks that rise into bright blue skies, pristine streams offering blue-ribbon trout fishing, and endless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and skiing, it's not surprising. Numerous bars and eateries fill Ketchum’s Main Street, including venues for enjoying traditional regional dishes like bison and elk. Annual Wagon Days in early September brings the largest non-motorized parade in the Pacific Northwest to Main Street. It comes complete with marching bands, Basque dancers, western cowboys, wheels and wagons, concluding with a Street Party on Town Square.
