• Role: Med Surg/PCU/Tele RN - 5N Neuro Trauma
• Location: Marshfield, Wisconsin
• Facility: Marshfield Medical Center
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours
• Hours per week: 48

Unit Details

• Department: PCU RN - 5N
• Beds: 28
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-6, depending on acuity
• Charge nurse assignment: Nights takes a full team; days take a smaller assignment
• Nurse aides: Yes; days 1:9, nights 1:12
• Floating: Sister MS units, including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc

Required Qualifications

• Certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Experience: 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience
• Recent experience: Must have experience in a setting within the last 1 year
• Skills: Must have drip experience
• Clinical capability: Experience with trachs and vents is key on this unit
• Licensure: RN

Preferred

• Home trach/vent experience
• Open to first-time travelers

Schedule

• Self-scheduling: Yes, with manager balancing
• Weekend requirement: Every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement: Typically 2 of 3 winter holidays, otherwise every other holiday
• Call: No call

Orientation

• 1 shift of general orientation
• 1 shift with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Central monitor is located in a different area
• Unit uses vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, VapoTherm, and EtCO2 equipment
• Any solid color scrubs are allowed
