MedSurg RN

Overview

• MedSurg RN assignment in Jackson, Mississippi
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Day shift

Required Qualifications

• RN with BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Minimum 6 months of recent level 1 trauma experience, or experience at a larger facility with 400+ beds and high-acuity surgical patients
• Must be comfortable with lines and chest tubes
• Must be proficient with EPIC charting
• FLU vaccination is required, with only medical accommodations allowed by MD note
• FBI fingerprinting is required

Preferred

• At least 1 completed travel assignment

Unit Details

• Med/Surg unit with multiple units including 2 West, 6 West, 7 South, 4 Wiser, and 5 Wiser
• Patient ratios are typically 1:5, sometimes 1:6
• Tele capability on every unit with central monitoring
• RN titrates heparin drips
• RT support is available for CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents
• Charge RN may take a light assignment and can take a full load if needed
• Nurse aids are on all units

Schedule and Staffing

• No self-scheduling
• Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month is standard
• Holiday rotation with regular staff
• No call or standby requirement
• Travelers are expected to fill holes, with block scheduling accommodated when possible
• Open to weekenders, but it is not required

Floating

• Floats within skillset across all MedSurg units

Orientation

• First day includes paperwork, attestations, logins for Omnicel and Epic, unit tour, and scheduling discussion
• 2 additional shifts with a preceptor

Additional Notes

• Solid-color professional scrubs in any color are allowed
• Local candidates are accepted at 80% of traveler rate
