Required Qualifications

• BLS
• NIHSS
• 1 year of Tele, IMC/Stepdown RN experience
• Majority of cardiac experience
• Drip experience
• Good communication
• Good teamwork
• Good work ethic
• RN license

Preferred

• Previous travel

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Shift times: 0700-1900, 1100-2300, 1900-0700
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No self scheduling
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed

Unit Details

• Average nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 on days/pms, 1:5-7 on nights
• Must be okay with 7 patients
• Common patient types include cardiac, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, diabetes, dialysis, altered mental status, nephrology, hematology, wounds, and overflow strokes
• Up to 75% of patients can be cardiac
• Titrated drips include insulin, heparin, nitro, diltiazem, and lasix
• Tele techs provide 24/7 monitoring
• Charge RN has patients but generally not a full assignment
• Nurse aide ratios: 1:9 on days/pms, 1:14 on nights if full
• Equipment includes continuous CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, vapotherm, nebs, chest PT, and no vents

Floating

• May float to other Med/Surg floors
• May float outside the Med/Surg cluster, especially if there is a 1:1 patient observer need
• May float to other specialty areas if the clinician has other specialty experience

Other Details

• Agency staff are not put on call
• Staff may be scheduled in 4-hour blocks and may be LCd or reallocated if staffing needs are lower
• Any scrub color is allowed, as long as it is clean and professional
• Orientation includes 1 12-hour day off unit and 1 12-hour shift on unit
• Clinician must have an end date at least 6 months prior if they previously worked for the facility
