Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Days: 0700-1930
• Nights: 1900-0730
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation

Unit

Med Surg | RN

• 2 South: 18 beds
• 3 South: 22 beds

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)

Preferred

• PALS
• At least 2 years of experience
• Previous travel experience

Clinical Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Days 1:5; Nights 1:5-6
• Common patient types include medical acute cases such as pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic, surgical, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• RN monitors tele strips
• May float to ICU for general acute overflow patients or to Ottawa Campus for greatest need

Additional Notes

• 12 hours of non-billable orientation
• Unit orientation is usually 3 shifts
• Solid color scrubs only, no prints
• Low census may result in 4-hour call periods with reevaluation every 4 hours
