CVICU Registered Nurse

Overview

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Location: Madison, Wisconsin
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• Shifts: Day (7:00 AM to 7:30 PM) or Night (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM), 8- and 12-hour shifts, mostly 12-hour shifts
• Hours: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• Weekends and holidays: Every other weekend and some holidays
• On-call: No call
• Scheduling options: 4x12s or blocked weekends, if the traveler prefers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• CVICU (2 years of experience)
• CVICU experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience and knowledge of the NextStage CVVH machine
• Passing score on a telemetry test before start

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Background checks: Completed within 90 days before the start date. Includes a 7-year history search, a nationwide sex offender search, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring after hire.
• Wisconsin requirements: BID form and Wisconsin Caregiver Screening, both completed within 90 days of start.
• Licensure and verification: State license primary source verification within 30 days of start, and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
• Drug screen: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.
• TB: Negative TB test or chest X-ray, plus a TB questionnaire updated annually.
• Vaccinations: Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella documentation (2 doses, positive titers, or approved medical or religious exemptions). Hepatitis B vaccination series with titer, or a facility declination form, if providing direct patient care.
• Flu: Vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season (September 21 to April 13). Free flu clinics are available onsite.
• Other: Employment application, two clinical references from the last 3 years, and an annual skills checklist.
