Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. This position involves working with a diverse patient population, including adult and geriatric patients, as well as pediatric and infant cases requiring specialized care.

Shift Requirements

• Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM, every other weekend is required.

Facility Overview

This is a smaller community hospital with 123 beds, serving as a Level 3 Trauma Center. The facility is located in Spokane Valley, WA.

Patient Types

The Respiratory Therapist will manage patients across various settings, including:

• Medical/Surgical (MS)
• Critical Care
• Emergency Services
• COVID-19 cases

Patient Ratios

Patient assignments are determined based on census and acuity using a points system acuity tool.

Licensure & Certifications

Required qualifications include:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Required Skills

The following skills and experience are necessary:

• Basic respiratory therapy skills
• Critical care experience
• Experience with ventilators, BiPAPs, HFNC, and other respiratory equipment
• Some experience in nursery care is beneficial; having NRP certification is acceptable even without nursery experience.

Support on the Unit

The selected candidate will have access to support from the Respiratory Therapy manager and team lead.

Technology & Equipment

The following equipment and technology will be utilized:

• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
• Ventilators: Getinge Servo-u
• Pyxis for medication dispensing

Orientation

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation consisting of:

• 1 day of hospital orientation
• 2-3 precepted shifts, with additional time determined by the manager based on comfort and proficiency.

Scheduling Information

• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• Holiday expectations are unit dependent.
• Requests for time off (RTO) must be approved by the manager.
• Schedules are released 6 weeks in advance.
