Description
The Inpatient Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescriptions and monitoring patient drug therapy in accordance with all applicable regulations and standards. This role includes a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring optimal medication management and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Dispensing medication orders and prescriptions accurately.
- Overseeing IV admixture and sterile compounding processes.
- Monitoring patient medication therapies and documenting interventions.
- Counseling patients regarding their medications and providing drug information.
- Supervising support personnel in the pharmacy.

- Pyxis Enterprise System
- Pharmogistics™ carousel and perpetual inventory systems
- Pharmacy Keeper Remote Verification video check/documentation system
- Alaris Infusion System
- Grifols USP 797/800 clean rooms
- Swisslog™ Pneumatic Tube System
Qualifications
- Active pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Arizona.
- Minimum of one year of inpatient hospital experience required.
- IV admixture and sterile compounding certification is mandatory.
- Night shift experience is preferred.
Work Schedule and Environment
- This position primarily operates on a night shift schedule, ideally consisting of 7 on and 7 off rotations.
- The pharmacist will be the sole pharmacist during night shifts, collaborating with one night shift technician.
- Should alternate shifts between day and evening if not assigned to nights, with every other weekend required.
- Orientation will take approximately 2 weeks, focused on training for computer and other systems.
Additional Information
- The unit typically accommodates 130 to 150 patients daily.
- The pharmacist will not float to other units or departments.
- Dress code for this role is business casual.
