Job Summary

In this full-time position, you will collaborate with dietary management staff and leadership to oversee all aspects of inpatient nutritional services. This role includes managing committees, department meetings, and additional clinical responsibilities while ensuring compliance with JCAHO, state, and federal regulations. You will provide nutritional education to patients and their families and document your assessments in both computerized and non-computerized medical records. Coordinating care with the nutritional team and medical staff is vital, along with participating in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients identified as being at nutritional risk or as necessary per policy or consult.
• Incorporate evidence-based practices when implementing nutrition interventions.
• Evaluate the need for specialized nutrition support and provide appropriate recommendations.
• Document nutrition assessments accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Reassess the nutrition care process and implement changes as required.
• Develop and oversee the overall nutrition and hydration plan of care for each resident.
• Recognize the diverse needs of age-specific populations along with cultural, religious, and ethnic considerations.
• Monitor residents for significant weight changes, new admissions, and the presence or progress of wounds, while ensuring compliance with standards of care.
• Participate in care conferences, meal rounding, and menu evaluation, and prepare the unit for survey readiness.
• Engage in quality improvement projects as needed.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dietitian.
• Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition from an accredited institution.
• Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• COVID-19 vaccination is required, exemptions allowed.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

This position requires approximately 40% of time dedicated to long-term care, 50% to inpatient services, and 10% to project improvement or other tasks, ensuring a comprehensive approach to nutritional care within various settings.
