Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with a focus on orthopedics and joints to join our team. This position requires dedication to patient care in a surgical environment with an emphasis on orthopedic surgeries such as total joint replacements and spinal surgery.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg Orthopedic experience (HARDSTOP - 2 years required)
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, specifically in peripheral line care and management
• Respiratory skills, including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Current BLS certification

Preferred Skills

• Experience with orthopedic procedures, including total joint replacements and spinal surgeries

Job Details

• Average Daily Census: 34 patients
• Available Shifts: 3 x 12 hour nights (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
• Contract Length: Up to 16+ weeks, with potential extensions
• No call requirement; floating may be required based on census
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend

Patient Population

Patients will primarily consist of those undergoing surgical interventions, particularly within orthopedic specialties. Common diagnoses include total knee replacements, total hip replacements, spinal fusions, hip fractures, orthopedic trauma, and medical/surgical overflow.

Equipment and Systems

• Frequent use of wound vacs and drains
• Familiarity with Pyxis and EPIC systems is required
• Utilization of SBAR for communication

Orientation and Scheduling

Orientation is tailored to unit needs, and scheduling aligns with unit requirements.

Dress Code

Scrubs are not provided; navy blue scrubs are required.

Interview Process

Candidates must provide availability for interviews within the next 72 hours to facilitate prompt communication and approval.

Additional Information

All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to commencement in this specialty area.
