Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team in the NICU department. The ideal candidate will possess experience in neonatal and pediatric critical care, demonstrating a strong ability to handle complex situations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor patients on ventilators, averaging a daily census of 6-10 vents.
• Perform respiratory therapies and procedures, including endotracheal tube placement, suctioning, extubation, and pulmonary toileting.
• Collect sputum specimens and interpret arterial blood gases (ABG).
• Administer care to patients in the NICU and provide support to the adult respiratory therapy unit as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using Cerner charting software.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in neonatal or pediatric critical care.
• Current NM State Respiratory Therapist license.
• Required certifications: RRT, BLS, ACLS, and NRP.
• Experience in a Level I Trauma facility is preferred.
• Ability to float to adult respiratory therapy unit as needed.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to work weekends as needed, with a maximum of three consecutive weekends to accommodate unit needs. The standard shift consists of three 12-hour days, from 06:00 to 18:30.

Requirements

• Floating to meet facility needs is expected.
• Potential candidates must not reside within 100 miles of the facility.
• COVID vaccination is optional, but reporting is required.
• Requests for time off exceeding seven days will require additional approval.
• Guaranteed hours are 36 hours per week, with the possibility of being called off up to three times during a 13-week assignment.

Additional Information

New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in duration. A break of six months is required after four consecutive assignments or upon reaching one year of service, whichever comes first. Overtime will be paid after 48 hours worked per week.
