Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/PICU position at a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of recent NICU/PICU experience.
Details
- NICU unit at a Level I Trauma, teaching, children's hospital with short-term acute care
- Average daily census of 6-10 ventilated patients
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:00-6:30)
- Weekend work required as needed, no more than 3 consecutive weekends
- Floating to RRT Adults unit as needed
- Must work 2 of 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Cerner charting system
Requirements
- NM state license required if applicable
- Current RRT, BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- 2 years of recent NICU/PICU experience required
- Both NICU and PICU experience required
- Self-rated proficiency of 4 on High Frequency Jet Ventilator (HFJV) and High Frequency Oscillator (HFOV)
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, tracheostomy suctioning, pulmonary toileting, and ABG interpretation
Additional Information
- First-time travelers accepted
- No local candidates within 100 miles of the facility
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require approval
- Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from prior employment
- Royal blue scrubs required
- COVID vaccine optional, though facility requires reporting of vaccination status or declination
