Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with a focus on Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to provide high-quality respiratory care for our patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in managing patients on various ventilators and have a solid background in pediatric critical care.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services for NICU patients, including the management of mechanical ventilation.
• Perform assessments and monitor patient responses to respiratory interventions.
• Conduct airway management procedures, including endotracheal tube placement, extubation, and airway suctioning.
• Administer and monitor respiratory treatments and medications as per protocols.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to devise effective care plans.
• Educate patients' families regarding respiratory health and treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in Cerner charting system.

Qualifications

• Current state license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU or Pediatric Critical Care setting.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
• Ability to float to adult RRT units as needed to meet facility requirements.
• Trauma Level I experience is required.

Working Conditions

This position requires working night shifts with a standard schedule of 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts). Weekend shifts may be required as dictated by the unit's needs, with a maximum of three consecutive weekends worked.

Other Information

• Guaranteed 36 hours per week, with the potential for call-offs as per unit policies.
• Open to accepting travelers with pending licensure, subject to approval.
• Travelers must adhere to a 6-month break after four consecutive assignments or after reaching one year of service.
