Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with night shifts and floating within a regional hospital system.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 32-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes post-surgical, orthopedic, and medical overflow cases such as joint replacements, colon resections, and hip fractures
• Typical RN patient ratios are 1:4-6 days, 1:5-6 nights
• 12-hour night shifts (1845-0700) with every other weekend required
• Travelers must float within Region 3 facilities (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division) as needed and within scope of practice
• No on-call required
• Epic EMR is used and Epic experience is preferred
• Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Support team includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT, hospitalist and intensivist, and telemetry monitoring tech
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Orientation includes facility onboarding and two days of departmental training
• Travelers are expected to work at least 75% of holidays as scheduled
• Up to 6 days of requested time off may be approved, excluding holidays
• Navy scrubs are required

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, manage non-titrating cardiac drips, wound care, drain and tube management, peripheral IV starts, and central line management
• Experience with Epic EMR is preferred
