Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute care experience, Illinois OT license, and BLS certification for a weekday acute care hospital assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care hospital therapy department
  • Day shift position, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm
  • Full-time 13-week contract
  • Serve diverse, acute care patient population
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Work with interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
  • Supervise COTAs and rehabilitation technicians as appropriate
  • Develop and modify comprehensive plans of care based on patient progress and evidence-based practice
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and other team members
  • Perform safe patient transfers and utilize proper body mechanics
  • Monitor, supervise, and provide feedback to support staff
  • Complete documentation and reporting according to organizational standards
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to determine discharge planning and therapy needs
  • No local candidates accepted (must be at least 50 miles from facility)
  • RTO not to exceed 7 days during 13-week contract
  • Returning travelers cannot be continuously assigned at the facility for more than 1 year and must complete a 6-month break before being eligible to return
  • Compliance documentation and background check/drug screening due before start with firm deadlines
  • No travel partners are accepted for this position

Requirements

  • Current Occupational Therapist (OT) license in Illinois required if applicable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant acute care experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Level 1 trauma experience required
