Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a critical need Labor & Delivery position in California requiring active CA licensure, BLS, and advanced neonatal resuscitation certification.

Responsibilities

Position is in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit
Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
13-week contract assignment
Epic EMR is used in this facility
Duties include providing nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns, including high-risk cases
Compliance with team protocols and collaboration with multidisciplinary staff is expected
Travelers cannot exceed two years of total assignment within the health system without a 90-day break
Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as travelers

Requirements

Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
Minimum one year of recent (within the last three years) full-time Labor & Delivery RN experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Current BLS certification
Current Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
Preferred: Five or more years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (within the last two years)
Preferred: One year of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience within the last two years
High risk OB experience preferred
Experience with Epic EMR preferred
Last 4 digits of SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Patient ratios are great. Pay is god

Cons

Travelers can not trade shifts with staff. No flexibility with scheduling. Almost daily assignment changes with shift due to staff working 8 hrs and travelers work 12. Traveler often set up to fail based on very strange order sets and minimal orientation. Must go in with tough skin.
