Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit, requiring Epic proficiency and a TX or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 35-bed Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Care for medical, surgical, and orthopedic patient populations
• Typical patient ratio is 1:6
• Night shifts are 4x12 hours, from 19:00 to 7:30
• Floating required to units of equal or lesser acuity
• Telemetry is monitored in a centralized unit
• Utilizes Epic EMR system and recent experience is required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Free floating charge nurse, Patient Care Technicians, and Patient Transporters provide team support
• House discharge nurse available across departments
• Scrub color is flexible but must be without logos
• Orientation modules completed onsite and documented by transcript
• No more than 3 requested days off will be approved; none during first week of orientation
• Holiday time off will not be granted
• No travel pairs or groups allowed

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience required, but 2 years preferred
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Epic EMR experience within the last 6 months preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Former permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
