Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of experience, key certifications, and prior travel assignment experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Labor & Delivery unit of a short-term acute care teaching hospital
• Day shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00 to 19:30
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
• Call required: 24 hours over a 6-week period with 45-minute onsite response time
• Float required to similar units such as Mom/Baby, with travelers floating before permanent staff
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required as needed
• Specialized in high-risk labor and delivery cases
• Circulate, fetal heart monitoring, preceptor and/or charge nurse skills required
• Experience with Cerner EMR is required
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Responsible for providing comprehensive care to laboring patients, including high-risk pregnancies
• Participate in team-based care in a teaching hospital environment with multidisciplinary support
• Travelers required to complete orientation modules before start and possibly during orientation
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• First time travelers are not eligible; at least one prior travel assignment needed
• Scrub attire is facility-provided
• Must be able to respond on premises within 45 minutes for call shifts
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted in advance and limited to a maximum of 7 days over a 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active MD RN license or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
• Certifications required: AWHONN Intermediate, ACLS, STABLE, NRP, BLS
• Must register for C-EFM within the first two weeks of assignment; C-EFM through NCC preferred
• Experience as a preceptor or charge nurse required
• Strong circulating and fetal heart monitoring skills required
• High-risk Labor & Delivery experience required
• Triage experience preferred
• Must provide 2 supervisor references from the past 2 years
• Return staff must have at least 1 year between permanent employment and travel assignment
• Local candidates accepted if residing within 60 miles
