Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Pediatric RN for a night shift hospital position in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license, BLS, and PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in an 11 room, 16 bed Pediatric unit within an acute care hospital
• Level II Trauma Center setting
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 18:00 to 6:30
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Patient population includes pediatric MedSurg and stepdown/telemetry cases
• Uses Cerner EMR and experience is required
• Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients across a range of medical and stepdown/telemetry needs
• Support includes breastfeeding, IV therapy, respiratory interventions, and wound care
• Must work two out of three major holidays during the assignment
• Scrub color is any solid color
• No restrictions on local candidates
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must not have worked as a perm or PRN employee of the health system within the past 12 months
• No parking cost; parking permit required and arranged during orientation
• Up to 5 days of requested time off can be auto-approved; more than 5 days may require facility approval
• Modules to be completed virtually on the first day

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand at time of application or active application with ETA
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric RN experience
• Current BLS and PALS certification from AHA or Red Cross (RQI not accepted)
• Experience with pediatric MedSurg, stepdown, and telemetry required
• Skills required include hyperbilirubinemia and insulin administration, breastfeeding support and handling, gavage feedings, oral/nasogastric tube placement, peripheral IV line care and phlebotomy, pediatric dosage calculations, oral/nasal suctioning, oxygen delivery systems, infection prevention, isolation precautions, and wound assessment/care
• Experience with Cerner charting system required
