Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a ICU Ventricular Assist Device Coordinator role in Washington, DC, requiring VAD experience and current or pending DC licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an ICU setting with a focus on ventricular assist device (VAD) patients
  • Coordinates the monitoring and management of VADs during procedures and operations
  • Day shift (8:00am-4:30pm) Monday through Friday, with required remote and onsite call on weeknights and weekends as needed
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams for VAD management and device inventory
  • Call is remote unless onsite presence is medically necessary
  • Coordinates VAD monitoring, patient education, and regulatory compliance
  • Responsible for device tracking, inventory, and recall management
  • Eligible candidates must complete pre-start and orientation modules, averaging 12 hours
  • Must disclose all requested time off at the time of application; up to 7 days preferred per 13-week contract, with no time off allowed in the first two weeks
  • Work closely with a team including Materials Management and Equipment Technicians
  • May work without a formal interview as determined by management
  • Transcripts of completed modules must be maintained

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required prior to start date (pending accepted at time of consideration with proof)
  • BLS certification required
  • VAD experience as a nurse coordinator or VAD engineer required
  • VAD certification preferred within 1.5 years of hire
  • Experience in cardiac or cardiovascular ICU required
  • Two supervisor references required for consideration
  • Must be separated from prior employment at Medstar for at least one year to be eligible
  • Local candidates accepted within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate
