Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Iowa, requiring prior neuro and stroke experience and a current IA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 25-bed Med/Surg unit with a patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Patient population includes post-TNK, orthopedic, crani-neurosurgery, laminectomy, and polytrauma cases
• Unit utilizes heparin and 3% sodium drips, PCAs, telemetry, chest tubes, and AIRVO
• Requires use of lift equipment and telemetry monitoring
• Expected to float across other Med/Surg units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience is required
• Responsibilities include monitoring neuro and orthopedic post-surgical patients with advanced equipment
• May require a supervisory reference from within the last 2 years for consideration
• Must have active licensure and certifications at time of consideration; pending certifications are not accepted
• Holiday coverage may be required according to facility needs

Requirements

• Active IA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications are required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience with neuro and stroke patient care
• Must have completed at least one travel contract in the previous 12 months; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Epic EMR experience is required
• Comfort with tele strip reading, drips/titration, IV administration, lift equipment, chest tubes, and AIRVO
• De-escalation certification (MOAB, MAB, SAMA, or CPI) preferred but not required
