Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2 years of recent med/surg experience and a current ND or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting on a Med/Surg Float Pool unit
• Patient population includes surgical (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (CHF, CVA, SOB, diabetes)
• Unit has 61 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 days and 1:6 nights
• Equipment used includes Cpap, BiPap, high-flow oxygen; no titratable drips required
• Epic EMR is used; prior Epic experience preferred
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend and holiday required
• First to float within unit as needed
• Duties include caring for a diverse med/surg patient population and confirming telemetry readings
• Nurse aides assigned at a 1:15 ratio to support bedside care
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required per unit policy
• Any color scrubs are permitted
• Mandatory completion of unit-specific float checklist during orientation
• Candidates may not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
• Floating within the designated zone is expected

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years recent med/surg RN experience required
• Ability to confirm monitor tech strip readings required
• Two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
