Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring cardiac and neuro experience as well as ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) of a hospital setting
• Shift schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm with every other weekend and a holiday rotation
• Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Floating within scope to like units is required with travelers floated first
• No on-call requirement
• Epic is used for charting and EMR documentation
• Primary responsibilities include providing critical care to post-surgical patients with both cardiac and neurological conditions
• Royal blue scrubs are required as the dress code
• Free parking is available for staff
• Computer-based modules must be completed prior to start, averaging 4 hours
• Holiday coverage is required as part of the rotation
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• All requested time off must be disclosed at the time of application
• Candidates should be prepared for possible emergency response assignments during hurricane season, June through November

Requirements

• Current SC or compact RN license must be in hand prior to start
• Minimum 1 year of SICU experience required, with 2 years preferred
• AHA certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Cardiac and neuro experience required
• Experience with Epic charting preferred
• Previous permanent staff or PRN employees must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before eligibility as a traveler
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius from the facility
