Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring cardiac and neuro experience, night shifts, and SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

Work in the Surgical ICU (SICU) of a hospital setting
Patient population includes complex surgical, cardiac, and neuro cases
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Required to work every other weekend and participate in holiday rotations
Float to similar units as needed, in line with staff expectations
Uses Epic EMR system
Royal blue scrubs required
No on-call responsibilities
Perform specialized nursing care for post-surgical, cardiac, and neuro patients in a critical care setting
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
Complete facility-required modules pre-start (average 4 hours)
Free parking is available on site
All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application and is subject to facility approval
Travelers must be available to participate in emergency response during hurricane season (June to November)
Return to the facility as a traveler is only permitted after a 1-year separation for previous staff

Requirements

Active SC or compact RN license in hand prior to start
Minimum 1 year of recent SICU experience, with 2 years preferred
Current AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Demonstrated experience caring for cardiac and neuro patients
Epic charting experience preferred
No current or recent (within 1 year) permanent or PRN employment at the facility
Not accepting first-time travelers
Must not reside within 60 miles of the facility
