Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN experienced in Pediatric ICU with PICU and Level 1 trauma background and Illinois licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a pediatric inpatient unit that includes Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Advanced Care, and Pediatric Med/Surg patients
  • Day shift schedule from 7:00AM to 7:30PM, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Assignment is 13 weeks in length
  • Uses EPIC charting system; prior experience with EPIC required
  • Floating between pediatric-related areas may be expected
  • No local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Performs comprehensive nursing care including assessment, care planning, implementing, and modifying plans as needed
  • Collaborates with Pediatric Intensivists, Pediatric Hospitalists, and multidisciplinary team members
  • Manages intake and output, performs dressing changes, catheter insertions, and IV starts
  • Administers medications and uses bar code scanning for medication safety
  • Acts as a mandated reporter for suspected abuse/neglect cases
  • Ensures strong communication with patients and families via bedside report and hourly rounding
  • Adheres to dress code and compliance deadlines
  • Restricted to a maximum of 7 days of approved time off during the 13-week contract
  • Contingent workers may work no more than 1 year consecutively at this facility without a break in service
  • No travel partners are accepted for this assignment

Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license in good standing; temporary license accepted
  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience in a similar setting
  • Experience working in a Level 1 trauma environment required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Associate's degree in nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required
