Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Pediatric ICU night position requiring IL licensure, EPIC experience, and Level 1 Trauma background.

Responsibilities

• Work in a pediatric unit including PICU, Peds Acute Care, and Med/Surg within a hospital setting
• Primary patient population includes pediatric ICU and pediatric advanced care patients
• Night shift schedule: 7:00PM–7:30AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Utilizes EPIC charting system; prior experience required
• Assignment length is 13 weeks
• No local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles away
• Collaborate closely with Pediatric Intensivists, Hospitalists, and a multidisciplinary care team
• Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and provide advanced nursing interventions for pediatric patients
• Monitor intake/output, administer medications using bar code scanning, and manage dressings, IVs, and catheters
• Serve as a mandated reporter for suspected abuse or neglect cases
• Emphasis on communication with families and team members, including bedside reporting and hourly rounding
• Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
• No travel partner requests accepted for this assignment
• Candidates who have been on assignment at Carle Health for one year must take a 6-month break before returning
• Maximum approved time off is 7 days per 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license or temporary authorization
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Minimum of one year relevant pediatric nursing experience required, three years strongly preferred
• Documented experience in a Level 1 Trauma setting
• Documented EPIC charting experience
• Minimum Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN); BSN preferred
