Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level I Trauma and teaching facility, requiring 1+ year of recent experience and active SC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
  • 13-week contract with 3x12 hour night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Unit is a 22-bed intermediate PCU/medical-surgical unit caring for pre- and post-operative transplant, nephrology, and urology patients
  • Typical night ratios are 1:3 or 1:4 depending on staffing
  • Central monitoring system for step-down and separate system for telemetry beds with five beds equipped for close monitoring
  • Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting; Epic experience preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, Magnet Hospital
  • Care for a diverse patient population including transplant, nephrology, and urology cases
  • Scrub requirement: solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms
  • Pre-start modules required (approximately 4 hours, completed prior to start date)
  • Team-based environment with support for both experienced nurses and first-time travelers
  • Emergency response participation may be required during hurricane season (June through November)
  • Block scheduling requests must be approved by management and are not guaranteed
  • Time off (RTO) requests of 7 days or fewer approved for auto offer; requests exceeding 7 days or including holidays require facility approval

Requirements

  • Active South Carolina or Compact RN license (must be issued and active before start)
  • AHA certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of recent PCU experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Must provide Social Security Number and Driver’s License for consideration
  • Radius requirement: candidates must live at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff at the facility must be separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
