Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro expertise, VA or compact license, and required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications for a night shift travel assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the ICU with a focus on neuro patients, including post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke cases
  • Patient populations include neurosurgical, post-stroke, respiratory failure, renal failure, post-surgical, trauma, sepsis, MODS, heart failure, and post-cardiac cath
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3
  • Night shift positions (3x12 or 4x12-hour shifts), weekdays with every other weekend required
  • Must be willing to float to Stepdown, ED, or MedSurg units to care for ICU patients
  • Requires proficiency in Epic EMR
  • Holiday coverage required within contract
  • Role includes caring for critically ill neuro and multi-system patients
  • Will be required to float to other units within scope of ICU care as needed
  • Completion of three hours of pre-start online modules is required
  • Must furnish two professional references for consideration
  • RTO will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Scrub or dress code requirements not specified
  • Travel experience and three years of experience are preferred but strong candidates with less may be considered

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license in hand at the time of consideration
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Must have strong neuro ICU experience, including post-neurosurgical, EVD, and stroke care
  • Experience with ventilators, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia, and emergency management required
  • Epic EMR proficiency required
  • Three years of critical care experience preferred
  • Must pass EKG test with a score of 80% or higher on the first attempt; no remediation offered
  • No history of license or background hits accepted
  • Facility will not consider candidates who reside within 50 miles of the facility (address verification required via Driver's License)
  • Must be able to pass facility fit testing; cannot accommodate PAPR
