Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical Specialty float pool position on a mixed stepdown and acute care transplant unit requiring stepdown/PCU and travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital float pool assigned to a mixed stepdown and acute care surgical transplant unit
• Patient population includes post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients, as well as pre-transplant evaluations
• Requires close monitoring for infection, organ rejection, and medication administration
• Day shift position with 12-hour shifts, three days per week
• Provide nursing care for transplant and surgical stepdown patients, including close physiological monitoring and timely medication administration
• Responsibilities include obtaining and monitoring patient data, assisting with minor procedures, and interacting with patients and families regarding care plans
• Delegates tasks to support staff and makes referrals regarding patient care as needed
• Documentation of patient responses and physician orders required
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
• Scrub or dress code requirements are not specified

Requirements

• Active OK or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Minimum of one year RN experience
• Stepdown or PCU experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• Transplant unit experience preferred
• Some computer competency required
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility location
