Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with a valid IL license, Level 1 Trauma experience, and strong scrub and circulate skills.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital-based Operating Room setting
  • Level 1 Trauma Center with diverse surgical specialties, including Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery
  • Work schedule consists of 4x10 hour shifts, 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM
  • Mandatory on-call one 12-hour shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday, 7 AM-7 PM or 7 PM-7 AM
  • Requires working every other weekend
  • Mandatory float within facility and possibly to other locations within 50 miles, sometimes outside primary competency
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Navy blue scrubs provided by facility
  • Responsible for scrub and circulating duties across a broad range of surgical specialties in a trauma hospital setting
  • Team-based support model is used if floated outside primary competency area
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling requests allowed
  • Strict RTO policy: maximum 5 days off, no more than 2 consecutive days, no weekends or holiday RTO allowed
  • No RTO permitted the day before or after a holiday
  • Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of assignment acceptance
  • First-time travelers and local candidates will be considered
  • Parking is available offsite for a nominal daily fee with shuttle service provided

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in hand at time of application
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years recent acute care OR experience
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Strong scrub and circulate skills required
  • Experience in Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery required
  • Preferred experience in Neurosurgery (crani and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatrics, and Gynecology
  • COVID vaccination required prior to start, booster not required
  • Must live within a 75-mile radius to be eligible as local

The parking, I feel they should provide an ability for travelers to pay for parking per month even if at a slightly higher cost compared to staff
