Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and an active AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 32-bed Neuro Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
  • Patient population includes trached patients, CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, psych issues, and brain tumors
  • Patient ratio is 1:4 with central telemetry monitoring
  • Shift is 12-hour nights, 7pm to 7am
  • Four weekend shifts required every four weeks
  • Float to other telemetry units or tele overflow in ICU as needed
  • Cerner EMR utilized and must be able to use WOWs
  • Unit is fast-paced with average length of stay 4-5 days
  • Charge nurse takes a light patient assignment and nurse aides are available on each shift
  • Team environment with SWAT RN available for difficult IV starts, pharmacy and respiratory therapy available 24/7
  • Required to wear steel gray scrubs
  • Bedside report is standard practice
  • Holidays are assigned based on unit rotation
  • Men must be clean shaven for fit test; natural hair color and no facial piercings required
  • First-time travelers are considered if all requirements are met
  • Not eligible if employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the last year in a direct role
  • Floor-specific orientation is provided over two days

Requirements

  • Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Level 1 trauma experience is required
  • Ability to interpret EKGs and titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin drips
  • Experience in neuro telemetry nursing strongly preferred
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance; two attempts allowed
  • Must pass SIMs Lab skills check on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientation
  • Must provide two recent professional references, including one supervisor reference from the past 12 months
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver’s license
