Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position, requiring flexibility with weekends and an active IN or compact license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit within a teaching hospital
- Patient population includes cardiovascular surgical, peripheral vascular surgical, arrhythmias, endocarditis, CHF exacerbations, and overflow patients
- Patient ratios are 1:5-6
- Night shift position, working 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Required to work 50% of weekends during the contract based on unit needs
- Floating required within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals, with coverage for various care levels including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU
- May be assigned precepting responsibilities or have students shadow as part of the teaching hospital environment
- Cerner EMR is used; charting experience preferred
- Responsibilities include providing care to a diverse patient population with complex cardiac and vascular needs
- Charge nurse coverage may be assigned based on operational needs, with training provided
- All travelers must complete hospital modules pre-start
- Must be able to work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Time off requests of 5 non-holiday days or less are auto-approved; additional time off requires approval
- Any call-in shifts are subject to the hospital's make-up policy
- All candidates must be willing to float and accommodate the unit's operational requirements
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required in hand prior to start
- Current BCLS certification from AHA or RQI accepted
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- Strong skills in telemetry and IV start preferred
- Completion of nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- Must provide two supervisor references
- Not accepting local candidates residing in Indiana for Med/Surg Tele positions
- Former perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month separation before being considered
