Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with DC licensure for a Neuro Intermediate Care position requiring telemetry expertise and every other weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Neuro Intermediate Care (IMC) unit of a short-term acute care teaching hospital
- Patient ratio is 1:4
- Day and night shifts available (3x12 hour shifts per week)
- Every other weekend required
- Float required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Cerner is used for charting
- Care for patients needing telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and intermediate-level care
- Primary duties include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management, complex line care, and wound care
- Orientation includes a 4-hour class, 8 hours of online modules, and two 12-hour clinical shifts before independent practice
- All travelers must be able and willing to care for COVID-19 positive patients
- Scrubs of any color are permitted as long as they do not have other hospital logos
- Parking is available at a cost
- First-time travelers are not accepted; at least one prior travel assignment required
- Candidates must have two recent supervisor references for consideration
- Employees previously employed at the facility must have a minimum one-year gap before returning as a traveler
- Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a lower rate
- No more than 7 days of requested time off for a 13-week contract is highly preferred, and no time off allowed during the first two weeks
Requirements
- Active DC RN license or proof of pending status at time of consideration; must have DC license before start
- Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
- At least 1 prior travel nurse assignment required
- Current BLS certification required
- Successful completion of the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam: minimum 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Experience with telemetry, cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, feeding tube, phlebotomy, peripheral and PICC line management, IV starts, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac
- Proficiency with Cerner charting system required
- Preferred certifications: ACLS, NIHSS, BSN
