Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring a MO or compact multi-state license and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit at a tertiary care teaching hospital with Level 1 Trauma designation
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5
• Patient population includes cardiac, post-cardiac angiogram, post-MI, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and renal failure cases
• Day shifts (4x12 hours) from 6:45 to 19:15
• Weekend requirement includes 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule, with a mix of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
• Floating between departments, units, and facilities is required
• Holiday shifts and acting as Charge RN may be assigned as needed
• Uses EPIC for charting
• No on-call responsibilities
• Free parking is available
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed during assignment
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; locals are not accepted
• Assignment may include block schedules based on department needs
• Must complete required online modules and drug screening prior to start
• 5-time Magnet-designated facility with a collaborative team environment
• No travel partners accepted for this assignment

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration; Kansas license may be needed for certain floats
• Minimum of 2 years recent specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap over 90 days in the past year
• Current BLS certification required
• Demonstrated skills in MS/Tele, cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response, IV insulin protocols, hemodialysis management, post cardiac care, central and peripheral line management, blood product administration, and wound vac care
• Must be able to manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor-level or above and one from at least a charge RN, both from within the past year
• Pending license considered if in process
